Back up and running

Unread post by Txjeeper81 » May 30th, 2017, 8:36 am

So this 1970 M151a2 was donated to a museum I belong to here in Houston. The mutt like many was restored used then life happens and it sat for many years. After a failed attempt to get her running again by a civil mechanic I was asked to take the job on. So a complete tune up spark plugs, coil, distributor cap, new electronic ignition module, a good carb cleaning and fresh gas she has come to life again. The more and more she is ran the better she seems to get got to work out all those cobwebs form sitting. This M151a2 was bought off a ranch here in Texas many moons ago the owner was in the army back in the 80's and his unit had m151's. So he restored this 151 to match the one he was assigned in the Army. She still has some TLC issues but she is a looker and now a runner.

I am curious to see what those numbers come back as since the front fenders are not straight across like all the other 70 Fords I have seen. I thought Ford went to the upswept fender in mid 71.

I believe mine has the same fender (unless I misinterpreted your description as "upswept") and mine was verified as a true pre-emissions 70 model.

Cheers,

Maybe it was mid 70 and not mid 71 that they made the change? Ken will be sure to correct me, he likes doing that.
