Gas Cap Gasket

Unread post by dauntless225 » June 16th, 2017, 3:39 am

Bought a new gasket for gas cap and turned to mush , twisted real bad and grew almost an 1" in diameter in about 4 days. Had to cut that inch out of it just to get back on the cap to rig it. I know it was the ethanol in the fuel. I can't afford the almost $4.00 a gallon they charge 20 miles from town for real gas. Where do you get a new gasket for the ethanol based fuel ? Jerry

You don't say what you're got but it sounds like you're using a rubber gasket. Is that right?

If so, go down to the auto parts store and get a sheet of cork gasket material and cut your own.

I would also recommend you have a look in our "For Sale" section. There's a fella who has just posted some parts for sale, including gas caps.

Cheers,
TJ

Jim Hybicki used to sell gaskets that handle the new fuels. I don't know if he still does or not. I will try to find his info.

Here is his info, send him a PM and see if he still has them.

Rick, Jim is the guy who is selling gas caps in the For Sale section. His info is at the bottom of his advert.
