Bating 1000 on China junk

Unread post by dauntless225 » August 1st, 2017, 5:02 am

Bought a upper ball joint. Kept looking at it thinking something didn't look right. Bolt holes are metric. Called the dealer , had to leave a message, yet to call me back. Bought from Midwest Jeep. Tried to save a few dollars. Stay away from this outfit. I'm not going to drill my a-arm to metric holes to fit this China crap. Being sandwiched in there may work for awhile but in time would be working back and forth. This is for the guy who might not have caught the difference in the bolt hole size. Be sure to check whatever you buy.

Just be aware that as the NOS stuff dries up all of these dealers are all buying from the same sources. I am seriously thinking of selling the 151 since there seems to be no good up and coming sources of quality aftermarket parts for them.

I sold my M-38 of 25 years due to rough ride and problem of getting in and out of due to my health and age for this A2 .Wanted to enjoy wheeling a little more than the Willys was allowing. Thinking now I should have drank another beer and endured the pain. With all the China junk on the market today, my search for US made parts will be with individuals with want ads on this site and the G503

As much as Ebay sucks to deal with, they are a necessary evil in my opinion. LOTS of actual NOS parts on there. I agree that the chinese crap sucks. A great example is the 24 volt coils. It took me a long time but I have landed 3 NOS ones over the past year and I stocked up on them for my M151.

Been collecting. NOS parts for years!.
Keeping two A2s going is so much easier that way.
Hopefully my son can keep his A2 going for a long time by having this stash!

I shop the dealers and eBay. I tried to save $10.00 and is going to cost me more money now. Mad wife and fixed income reason for trying to save a buck. Still no word from Midwest on the metric ball joint. Putting the word out is good enough for me. I went ahead used it for I don't have it on the road yet and the other was so wore out it was at the point of separating. Will be good enough for around the property but will be replaced before it hits the road. Have it outlined to keep an eye on movement. I torqued it down pretty good so will be fine for now. Want to tell everyone thanks for replying to my posts and PM's sent and a personal thanks to Rick. Jerry
