need pics of vietnam era encampments

Unread post by Lindsay36551 » August 16th, 2017, 7:53 pm

hey all,
the southern Winter rally is moving forward with its reenactment camps.
I need some pics of camps that some of you served in.
I want to make this as realistic as I can .
Kind of a melding of the pots as they say!
This means a lot to me as my dad served there and Korea.
Its time to move away from WW2 to more modern day conflicts!
Our rally will be the 1st in the Nation to jump from traditional encampment's to include those of you who actually attend these events!
I personally think its about time!!!
Best regards

Rick,
What type of tent did you use?
Or was your situation more like the movie Platoon?

Tent? Oh, that little half of a postage stamp of canvas they gave you to buddy up with someone else with the other half? Yea right. I lost that thing in the first week. My tent was a poncho. I had a few of them. We were Recon and did a lot of long range patrols so there was no setting up camp. You hunkered down and blended in and in the morning you were moving. I was stationed on an air base so when actually in camp we had a Quonset hut. It was so damn hot we stayed outside for the most part.
