Red River on Ebay

Unread post by Hambone » September 30th, 2017, 11:18 am

Blake is putting a few parts on Ebay now, check out his prices, if you don't see what you're looking for, give them a call, talk to Blake or Justin, he has better pricing than other dealers.

Here is a perfect example of what Fil is talking about. The shipping is twice what the part costs!!! Yea, the shipping on everything on that e-bay site is out of hand and is a deal killer for me. A battery box cover for 30.00 but 65.00 for shipping!!!! You got to be kidding!

Don't know what's going on with the shipping, you can call them and purchase for the same price and acquire about shipping, I'm going back over in a week or two, if you need anything, I can pick it up and ship it USPS flat rate.

It is another way to add to the price without adding to the price. Shipping is not cheap but come on now. I get stuff from Amazon all the time, bid damn box with one little item in it but I got it in two days and free shipping. Whats up E-Bay and E-Bay sellers?

Herd mentality. Sellers look at comparable items all the time in order to see how best to sell their own stuff. When they see others doing it, they do the same. And, they also hope that some clod is going to hit the Buy-It-Now button without examining the shipping. The whole thing stinks like yesterday's dirty diapers.

Got got pretty easy they had a heater for 275 with a listed 23 dollars shipping which then went up to 50 on checkout

Shipping is probably something on the kit as it isn't exactly small or light but still it shouldn't change

I had a chance to get some leftover M38 parts from a local guy. This guy pulled all the old military 24 volt stuff out to get his buddies old M38 running. He told me his buddy had tried to ford the jeep and ended up submerging it and having to get it pulled out. He was proud of the job he did. So I was going over the pile of parts he had left while this guy talked. There was the original gauge set. It was not too bad looking but you never know how these old take off gauges are. So as I am holding one of them he says, 'Yeah those go for $75 each on e-bay.'

I knew then the deal was doomed. I offered him $200 for the lot and he said it was not enough. I walked away.

Watch out for the “good” price then insane handling and shipping cost on eBay. I cancelled a purchase because I did not look close at the shipping cost.

I agree on some things about the shipping cost. Some of the smaller items costing a ton to ship is ridiculous, but here is my 2 pieces of input:

1. If it is oversized, too long, etc...... then it truly does cost an arm and a leg to ship, so some items cannot be helped.
2. Never hesitate to verify that the shipping is correct. I sell a lot of stuff on ebay for Caterpillar engines that I got from a guy long ago, and a lot of times it says a certain price, but when I get to UPS, its cheaper, so I refund the extra to the buyer. So sometimes it might be good to ask and verify.

But like i said, I do agree sometimes that shipping and "handling" are ridiculous.

Red River has helped save my Mutt. Cheers to them.
I tried to buy a Tow Bar (not from them) The price was 110.00, but they wanted 250.00 to ship a 35 LBS item. I just shipped a similar item for 52.00...
Beware of shippers greed.

A military tow bar for 35 lbs.? Was that just the attaching pads? A medium tow bar is close to a hundred lbs., without accessories. Plus oversize so I wouldn't want to pay for that.

Wait until you get old. I used to swing an M60 around like it was a 16 on three day nature hikes in Vietnam. Never bothered me. I don't think I could carry one for a half hour now, UNLOADED!
