Production years of M151 ?

Unread post by on-to-berlin » December 5th, 2017, 4:51 am

After I finished my M151A2 project and somehow still suffering from post-restauration depression I thought to cure myself with a new project. .. :D
So there is a M151 for sale in Germany right now. It has no front turn signal support and the air cleaner is the early flat type. So I suppose it is a true M151. The data tag however says it was produced by kaiser and dod is January 1964.
Is this correct?
I tought M151A1 already were introduced early/mid 1963?

1964 was a transition year and they had a lot of them that still had the leftover straight 151 stuff on them. I have a 64 that has the third brake light and turn signals but also had the flat top and three rib hood and four hole windshield. If you can find the body tag which should be on the frame rail under the grill then get with Ken and you might find it is an early 64. Check for the BUDD tag over the valve cover on the cowl just in case someone changed the data plate.
