alternator

Postby svramselaar » December 28th, 2017, 7:14 am

hi

i had nothing else to do :D

i have taken a new regulator with the flat spade lips from a 60 amp alternator and test the resistance at the connectors
maybe we can now test a good or bad one
below the results

with open i mean unendly ohm ( the 1 or flat 8 at the meter )

adjusteble resistor both way 35-37 ohm (it is adjusteble this is the factory setting )
golden resistor 2 ohm both way
red at resistor black at ground- open
red at ground black resistor- 560 ohm

term 1 = to ground both sides red or black term 600 ohm
term 1 = red at 1 black at 2 - 1132 ohm
term 1 = black at 1 red at 2 - open
term 1 = red at 1 black at 5 - 1294 ohm
term 1 = black at 1 red at 5 - open

term 2 = red at 2 black at ground - 1200 ohm
term 2 = black at 2 red at ground - 86,5 ohm
term 2 = 2 and 5 both side`s- open

term 3/4 is not used open to all others

term 5 = black at 5 red at ground - 560 ohm
term 5 = red at 5 black at ground - open

to test if it is the regulator or something else
let the alternator run on a testbench
put wire number 2 to ground if the alternator works at max voltage and amps the regulator is broken

inside the alternator
wire 1 gets the power for the regulator from the thin contact wire number 568
wire 2 trow regulator ground for the rotor
wire 5 control wire for regulator from batt connector

Hello George.....
thank you for posting that information. Very useful. Is this the type of end-plate that you used for taking the readings?
