M151A4

There is a fellow near me that has an M151A4, I can find little info on this, can someone here enlighten me?
Was there A3 as well?

The M151 series only went to M151A2. There are no A3 or A4 M151s. Pictures would help. Perhaps this fellow has an ambulance or recoil-less rifle unit.

No such critter, nor was there his cousin the A3.

If you get pics. I will bet it is a knock off like an Encore, titan or such.

Maybe HK got his finally accepted!!!!

I did not think there was such a thing as an M151A4. I figured it was a bunch of BS, here is what was posted. This guys is kind of a legend around here, not a good legend either....


"The Arsenal of Democracy museum received this M151 A2 A4 jeep one of the last ones built in the 2000. Only 100 built, mostly going to the Marines, we are in the middle of its new camo paint design. Main colors applied now comes the accent colors. This jeep has only 600 miles on it.
The museum has one of the first jeeps and the last jeeps built."

If it actually is a 200 then it is probably one of the last Encores and they never saw military service. None of the aftermarket bodied 151's did. So you are saying he is a legend in his own mind? :roll:

And you can let him know that even if it were a real 151, they are NOT Jeeps! The last Real Jeep in the military was the M38A1. The M-151 was original designed and built by Ford. Hence the horizontal grill due to patent infringement BS.

Found it on Facebook. It looks to be an Encore. Flat fenders, looks extra wide and no pioneer tool fixtures. Has a hard top and doors too.

I found it as well. That hard top does not even match up with the curve on the top of the front windshield.

AHA, Definitely looks like an Encore! The top matches the windshield top, the fabric retainer rail is lower than the top of the windshield. You will find there are no spot welded panels, there will be a real frame and the firewalls under the hood will be smooth with no protrusions around the horn area or on the other side where the voltage regulator would be. No seams on the fenders either. Might even still have the Encore vin tag on the drivers side firewall on the engine side. Not likely though as this clown probably thought of that. If it was made in 2000 then it has to have a 17 digit VIN number somewhere, military or not! And it has to have full emissions controls INCLUDING a catalytic converter! I would love to hear his excuse for all of that. The Encore got away with all of that because it was manufactured as an incomplete vehicle but I think that may have had a lot to do with their demise.
