Hey all, Just went out to the garage and started up and let warm up the MUTT, M151, 1/4 ton.
Saw that the exhaust manifold was glowing red to about 2 inches from center, Is this normal?
Smells ,If anything it would be a little rich!
your thoughts
Carb just returned from Billy Brooks.
Runs perfect! with no choke and no choke to cold start

Have you put a timing light on it?

As long as timing is set on the mark and the idle mixture is set correctly I would guess it was dark where you were. The exhaust manifold is quite thin so where the exhaust is blasting against it then it is possible but usual exhaust gas temps are in the 500-650 range so are you sure you were not at high idle with choke on?
