Sunday 151 Ride
My neighbor growing up was home from Florida, went for a ride with he and his sons. This is about 5 min down the road from where I live.

Real familiar country, would love to move back there but prices of real estate have gone crazy up there. Glad to see you are getting out. Bringing that one to Virginia?

Nice jeep and scenery, if you were riding in the woods down here in So. Arkansas, you would be swatting deer flies, horseflies, mosquitoes and knats, not to mention the 100 degree weather.

Re: Sunday 151 Ride
Saturday ride. Did about 120 miles down through Blackwell, Pa along Pine Creek to a camp. While at the camp a group of us went on a short hike that was interrupted by a rattlesnake in the trail. First time I've ever came across one like that in the wild. We heard it before we saw it. It looked to be close to 2" in diameter!

Re: Sunday 151 Ride
That is a nice snake! How come the blurry picture? When I used to live up there we would catch the snakes and take them to the hospital to have them milked for venom and then bring them back and let them go. This provided the antivenin for snakebites. It also put a few dollars in out pockets. Rattlesnakes will always let you know you are getting too close, they are not aggressive and will not strike unless you persist at coming at them after the warning. They will usually move off before you even get there but if you catch them by surprise then they let you know they are there. They can also only strike no more than their own length so as long as you are good at estimating their length you can safely get near them. And no, we did not do the macho You Tube thing where they go up and grab it by the tail and hang it out in front of them. That is pure stupidity because those snakes can turn and climb up their own body in a heartbeat and nail you! And just so you know, not all rattlesnake have their rattles! Some have lost them for one reason or another through molting or fights or accidents with cars. It always pays to be vigilant in snake territory and where you are there are many, many of them.
