Invoice

Unread post by SturmTyger380 » October 26th, 2018, 9:27 am

I have had for a few years a really nice A2 windshield that I got with my A1. The A1 windshield was fine so the other one was just laying around. A friend in my town is doing a restore of an A2 and was crying that his windshield was rusted really bad. So we made a deal for him to get mine.

So over the years there was this plastic packing slip holder stuck to the glass of the windshield. I never bothered with it. So to clean up the windshield for my friend I got to looking at it and there was something inside.

I got it out and it looks like an invoice for the A2 that the windshield was mounted on. I thought you guys might like to see. Looks like the cost is $22,128.00. Not sure if that is for the A2 or the shipping.

That is a DRMO disposal inventory invoice that is attached to all items sold through Gov-liquidation. The 22,128.00 was the original purchase price of the 151. If I am reading the serial number correctly that windshield was attached to an A1 when it was surplused out. That is an interesting piece to have. Is that the data plate number on your A1? 2P41072

I had sent an e-mail to Ken about this and he verified that it is an A2 serial number. But the military did in fact upgrade some of the A1's that were still in service ion the mid to late 70's with the ROPS. Since this is a DRMO invoice it is just a description as they see it of the vehicle. Ken also pointed out that the 2P should have been a 2F so they may have read it wrong. My experience from years of buying surplus is that they make that mistake a lot. Something you really needed to watch for on a vehicle purchase since when getting a SF-97 it could get real complicated if the numbers are wrong.
I am surprised Ken did not comment on here?

Very interesting. we've just returned from holiday/vacation and I've been catching up on sleep...so I didn't spot this until Rick mentioned it to me.
Here's my take on this.....

The NSN is definitely for an M151A2 w/ROPS. I checked through my records and found an M151A2 with a fairly close manufacturer's serial number (the 15145 part of the numbers and letters). The one I have is for an AMGeneral-built A2 with an MFSN of 15594. However, the one I have a record of has a US Army Registration of 02F 86972 whereas the document shows a US Army Registration of 2P 41072. The last two digits on these AMG-built A2s is "72"....the year of delivery. So if you discount those last two year-numbers, then do a comparison with the two vehicles Serials/Registrations, here's what you should get:-

02F 869(72) 15594
2P 410(72) 15145

difference 459 449

That would be close enough for me to say that the document is definitely an A2, and that the US Registration should have been typed up as 02F 41072 - 15145 and not as 2P.

Some data entry clerk could have mis-read or mis-typed the letter F as a letter P.

It may be that I'm wrong, but I don't have any records of any 2P-series A2s...and nothing near that registration in 1972.

The M151A1s that used the 2P hood numbers were delivered during the 1967 year, so it isn't one of these. And ROPS wasn't fitted to A1s by the military either.
=================================================================================================
Shortly after this, I re-opened the picture and enlarged it for a closer look..... guess what? That "2P" is not 2P at all...... it's actually "2F"........ so it does tie in with that other mutt record after all.
Ken
Kind regards....
Ken
