STA NDCC's. I will eventually be getting a set of 215-85/16's for street and off road and save the military tires for parades. I can tell you that the NDCC's can get real squirrely on a wet road and I don't care how slow you are going. They were made for off road. That is why in Europe they made them cut a different pattern into the side bars for more wet grip.

So curious question- the original tires are tubed, so are the stock rims capable of taking non-tubed radial tires?

Yes and no, If they are in good condition and not rusted as many are then yes, you can put tubeless tires on them. A good practice is to paint the inner rim over the rivets with a decent epoxy paint and that will assure that no air will leak out past the rivets. It is also good insurance against rust.
