No PIAT. Unfortunately.

But, yes, a few M1s. The scoped one is actually a M1D. (D has the barrel block optic mount, C was receiver mounted rail.)

I was trying to be real sneaky- as I know the ARNG still issued the M1 up through at least 1970, and of course the US military started using the M151 in the early 60s. But, the only late pictures I can find of ARNG carrying M1 rifles are with M38A1 Jeeps.

Look again at that Kent State photo, the one with the rear end visible is an M151.
I had a good friend in the ONG, his famous saying was "National Guard 4, Students 0".

If you enlarge the above photo you can see that the "jeep" with it's rear towards us is indeed a M-151  8) :P

I love my PIAT. It is so very typically British (don't hate me for saying that because you know what I mean) and they look like they were cobbled together by a plumber who wanted to turn some free time and a bunch of spare parts into an anti-tank gun. But, PIATs are downright stealthy and by golly, they WORK! Well, they used to work but tanks are different now. Fact is, you could still create a lot of mayhem with one that was kept in good order and handled properly.....and probably live to tell the tale.

The problem is, as much as I'd like to chat about PIATs, I don't want to hijack a perfectly good thread regarding trailers.

Cheers,
TJ

Gents, I like my trailers because in addition to hauling they provide a bit of stability to the vehicle when rolling along. IMHO, keeps the back of the vehicle from feeling sloppy especially when there is a load.

Don't wanna rain on the trailer parade but - what feels good going straight, on dry pavement may not be so good while turning, braking, etc on wet pavement or any surfaces providing less traction (particularly while running non-directional tires. This is precisely why the later trailers were getting equipped with surge brakes. Trailers without such "automatic" brakes may, under certain conditions, push the rear end of the towing vehicle around resulting in loss of control and jack-knife.

Fly, drive & ride like you might get killed.

Cheers,
TJ

To all those that love pulling a trailer I have one scenario you need to do. Chesapeake Bay Bridge, 40 plus mile an hour winds in a 53 foot tractor trailer. You will NEVER, EVER want to pull a trailer again!!!! When your tractor is in the left lane and your trailer is rubbing the rail in the right lane the whole way you will stop at that rest stop and be so shaky you will need help to get out of the truck! AND................. You are not all the way across yet! You still have several miles to go. I have also had smaller trails dogwalk on me on that and other bridges and open roads in the wind
