Re: Why folks want a trailer ?
You need a trailer to haul all the spare parts for your trip.....
slowest mutt east of the missippi..
Re: Why folks want a trailer ?
A good trailer converts any vehicle into a wheeled Swiss Army Knife. THAT's why you need a trailer.
However, if you have to ask....you probably don't need a trailer.... yet.

TJ

When my brother had a corn furnace, he would fill it up with shelled corn(the leaf springs would be like close to an upside down U).Actually the trailer is a 3/4 ton rating), probably a 15 mile round trip to the farm. This is with a M416

Plus, your M151 was meant to have a small trailer. That's why it has a hitch.

The 416 will easily hold 20 cases of beer and 1/4 ton of crushed ice. !!

All good reasons, as I see it.
Re: Why folks want a trailer ?
buying a M416 was probably one of the best investments. Apart from pulling it behind the 151 or having a platform for a car tent, it get's most of its use behind a civvy car. The pintle is changed in minutes to a civilian version and I have a second set of 12V lights.

Re: Why folks want a trailer ?
When we do our yearly encampment I have so much stuff to bring, large canvas awing with posts, food, beer and all the rest of what I need. There is no way that would fit in the back of a 1/4 ton.

Re: Why folks want a trailer ?
I use my M416 much more often than my M151A1. I pull the trailer behind my truck, my '05 Wrangler, and my 151. It hauls firewood, cleans up brush around the yard, hauls recyclables to the center, trash to the dump, landscape materials, and targets to the range.
