New Year's MV Resolution

Unread post by m3a1 » December 29th, 2018, 10:45 am

Well, another eventful year done and gone and THAT means it's time to make plans to completely squander another year! YAY!

So, I'm starting this thread by asking what plans you have to feed your MV mania. Just try to keep your responses grounded in reality. Yeah, that's right. I'm talking to you Flux Capacitor guys.

As for me, 2019 will be the year of the half track. After having actually LOST my brand spanking new Stromberg AAV-2 carb for more than a year, I finally found it. I have got to get better organized! It's a largish vehicle and that means having to have space to do with work so that also means kind of clearing the decks around here. I may even go so far as to install the new tracks and rollers, but if I do nothing else, I will have it back up and running and that means I'll be taking it to Hot Rod Nite. Wait till they get a load of THAT!

Happy New Year.

Cheers,
TJ

Get in, Put it in gear and drive. They have rubber tracks and will do 45 MPH with no problem.

if you show up, of course you can drive! It's actually rather boring stuff...until you get to the drive through at the local Whataburger.

But yes, they're actually a rather nice driving truck. You can't see diddly squat around you; temporary mirrors and a co-driver are an absolute must but otherwise it's a rather sedate drive. I've picked up one of those aftermarket cameras that are supposed to go on your license plate mount so you can have a view to the rear. I'll probably be putting that on at some point.

Used to be a half track that drove around Silverton Colorado frequently.

I would like to get my M37 done. It ran when I got it but had no brakes. As I have taken it apart I have found everything is worn out. Right now I am rebuilding the rear differential and it's going slow.

Tanks are like boats. Best owned by others and enjoyed by me....and there was a time. I used to really have my hand in on the Nimitz Museum's Sherman and their Stuart. Driver, mechanic, chief cook and bottle washer. Tanks are fun, but not worth the trouble of owning one. May sound odd to you, but I think I'd rather own a Priest, than a Sherman.

Did not get much else accomplished this past year on the m151. Was able to pick up a couple radios and their mounting brackets so I can eventually have the dual antenna setup I always pictured in my mind. Hope to have the brake system completely redone this spring. Resolution - Increase my patience level a few notches.
