large purchase of parts

Unread post by rickf » November 13th, 2020, 9:00 pm

I just made a large purchase of parts. I will be selling most of it and keeping some of it. I can't really put the list of stuff on here since the list is like 12 pages long. The shipment is going to weigh 7-8,000 lbs. if that gives you any idea of size. With this shipment I am also getting the plans for building lockers for the mutt using Suzuki Samurai Lock rite lockers and also the plans the putting disc brakes on a mutt using Samurai parts. I will be getting two engines and something like 10 differentials, one with locker installed and parts for two more. The rest of the stuff is all kinds of miscellaneous parts like ball joints, fuel pumps, coils, distributors. 15 Holley carburetors. I will not be giving this stuff away but I will be selling it for less than others. If interested then PM me your e-mail address and I will send you a copy of the lists. I do not have this stuff yet and I also do not have pricing on all of it yet. I am doing it in between everything else I have lined up. It is doctor season so I have a ton of visits to go to. Fun, fun.

I've done some pretty impressive climbs with my stock A2. I've been on trail rides with Hummers and gone places they couldn't. The open diffs work pretty darn good.

I agree Rick that lockers are obviously better. However, the stock set up works well for what it is.

To all of you reserving parts be sure to keep your sent e-mail so you have the time and date because this will be first come fist served on most of it in a case where there is only one item and more buyers. I need to set up some sort of system to log all of this but today is not the day since I am down with a migraine. Also keep in mind it is going to be at least two weeks before I even lay eyes on this stuff and then I have to get it sorted out so bear with me on it. in the meantime I will be pricing stuff based on prices from the usual dealers minus a percentage, I have not figured out the percentage yet. I really need to at least break even on this so here is a chance for people to get good deals but remember, I am not the government, I am not giving it away for nothing!!!

Hi Rick
Interested in everything, BUT post to Australia rules that out so will pm you with a VERY small list.

Good luck with the doctor stuff. One good thing we know - without modern medicine we probably would not be here making posts!

Ken, I have not seen anything in the way of manuals at all other than the stuff pertaining to the modifications. And Howard, You are right on the money about modern medicine! I died on the operating table in 2012 when I had a serious Staph infection in my spine and then for a couple weeks after that they were not sure whether I would make it or not since they were not sure whether the meds they were giving me would do the job. I guess they were right both times, I am still here. But when the doc asks you after surgery if you saw a ight in the tunnel and you laugh and then realize he is not laughing it strikes you that you are mortal after all. He actually wanted to know. And no, I did not, at least I don't remember anyway. But I do not believe it is ALL in the medicine. There was someone else looking out for me and he wanted me to stay around for some reason.

As in? It looks just like a mutt differential. It is the insides that are different. The shipment is coming in today and I will need a few days to sort things out. Then I will need to source someone to manufacture the stub axles needed so this is not happening instantly and I can tell you right now it will not be cheap. I will be putting a thread out to see if there is enough interest to even get into it.

Goods are here! Damn my back hurts! Those pics are after I already emptied the top part of the crate, it was full to the top. The bottom is full of complete suspensions, arms, hubs and all. I had to lift all those diffs out of there and then lift them again to put them on the skid! I will get into the big crate in the next couple days.
