hi
we all know the coil go bad if the contact is on and the engine is not running
i do not know if it is more or less with points or electronic ignition
i was thinking a oil pressure light so you can see if the contact is on
A2 there is a 1/8 plug at the oilfilterhousing for a low pressure switch
A1 put a T the pump wire and use a relais as below
this wire gets only power as the engine runs
nr 86 at ground
nr 30 at contact (ignition wire with a T)
nr 87A to oil pressure control light
nr 85 at pump wire
so if the pump get power light go out
oil pressure light

Re: oil pressure light
Good idea and have the light bright enough and in a spot where it will be obvious anytime you look in there so that if it is on you WILL see it. Also works as a an oil pressure idiot light in case you lose oil pressure as I did when the oil pressure relief spring broke in the pump.

Re: oil pressure light
I like it, with the availability of good coils getting scarce, we don't need to waste one.
