Gentlemen,
I had this windshield assembly up for sale over on the G503 and a member with keen eye for detail remarked that I had misidentified it. Upon close scrutiny, I agree, thus I have withdrawn it for sale until it can be properly identified -BUT- further investigation also leads me to believe this is not going to be an easy task.
So, I am asking for assistance in the matter because one, or maybe even more than one of you will probably know what this is right off the cuff.
It is NOT from a Dodge WC21 and by all appearances it is NOT from an International M2-4
There are several key elements to be considered in this particular windshield assembly. First, the windshield glass bottom transverse frame is arched to follow the arc of the cowling.
Also, there exists a very distinctive square-shaped tab (or ear) on the driver's side frame-to-cowl casting (likely for a side-view mirror).
The only casting mark I have found on these is the letter, M.
I do not believe this might actually be a civilian part, chiefly because it was found NOS in a badly damaged (and unreadable) milspec crate and that crate was found among other American military surplus.
I'd really rather this not end up going to someone's rat rod project.
Any help in identifying this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
TJ
Can you identify this windshield assembly?
