Hood/Serial # for 12/1960 M151 body number 0577
Have a early 1st run marked ford m151 but I has a 1962 data plate. It's body tag is 0577 and is marked run#1. I'm trying to figure out an approximate hood/serial number to use for the hood and new data plate. Also, need the contract number that the 1st run m151s were made under for both the data plate on the vehicle and engine.
Thanks
Jason

I have a 151 made by Ford? It was a 1st run? I better do some research before saying any more. The year was 1960.There was numbers on the front left rail?
I think the numbers on the hood had nothing to do with the serial number.
August 16,2011 was the date of my post, 'tag on left front channel. The word I got on it was'I have a very early "rare" Ford M151.

Hello Jason,The US Army Registration would be within the range 2B 7020 to 2B 7049 (this isn't an exact science as you know).Austringer wrote: ↑February 17th, 2021, 3:09 amI'm trying to figure out an approximate hood/serial number to use for the hood and new data plate. Jason
The contract would be DA20-018-ORD-21125 and delivery would be 12-60.
in exchange for that info....can you please post some photos of it, including all the little obscure "early" items that the members here would like to see and study? That would be very much appreciated
Kind regards....

Curiosity...
Mine is also in the 500's and ended up with an April 1962 dash plate. Now mine "should" have been a Dec. 2B as well according to MG but under multiple layers of paint the hood ended up matching the plate as a 2D and best I can tell from markings it may have come out of the 4th Cav in Kansas City, Missouri back in the day. Any markings to hazard a guess as to where yours came out of?

Hello Surveyor.
The 2D XXXX number you used would in normal circumstances have had a body number in the 16XXX range.
Now if your vehicle had not been issued and instead used as some sort of test unit and then later returned to the Army, it could have been issued with that 2D dataplate and the hood number would have been copied from that plate. it sounds unlikely but when it comes to M151s, the motto is "Never say Never".
A more likely explanation would be that the vehicle's original dataplate had been removed and somewhere along the chain of civilian ownership, someone obtained that 2D plate and then copied the number to the blank hood.
Whatever the reason....the body number you have would have generated that 2B registration had the vehicle been issued to the Army within that same batch of vehicles. Does that make sense? I hope so......

Always made sense. Longshot, but was just trying to see if there was a link somewhere with the 500's.
