Just to lighten things up....

I believe the term "great googly moogly" was first coined during a Snickers Super Bowl commercial about 12 years ago. Best I remember, there was an older gentleman (70) that was a groundskeeper at a football stadium. I don't rember what happened in the commercial, but he showed his disbelief by muttering "great googly moogly."

I even found the commercial! It's funnier than I remember....

Yeah now ok that is funny  While I still think telling someone to "Take a Chill Pill" is out of line busting a "Great Googly Moogly" is from here on always going to be welcome in my book. I have had a time or two on this forum, and the G503, where my attempts at light hearted humor have offended people. Heck I have even offended people when I was trying to be helpful  It just goes to show how type written text often does not convey the writter's true sentiment.

As a reminder too... Moose has laid out that there are two rules on this forum. Those are:

So be it, I guess I am just to easily annoyed for these forums. At 45 years old you do not know what it like to come home from overseas and get spit on and cussed at for serving your country. Yes, I do get easily annoyed when someone makes comments like "I already answered that". When I got on these forums over on the 503 several years ago there were a group of like minded peope that treated each other with respect. Things changed over there as younger people came in who do not understand what happened to the older guys. I had high hopes for this forum but since there are no rules then I guess people are going to take full advantage of the situation and us "easily offended" people are just going to have to live with it or leave. If you construe this to be a weakness then stop in at Aberdeen and tell me in person.

I am easily pissed off and easily offended too. I don't think it's a weakness. I consider it a character flaw of mine. It doesn't take being spit on or shot at to develop a low tolerance either. We all have difficult life experiences that color us one way or another. Go through a divorce, lose a brother to cancer, have bullys shove you around in elementary school, lose your Armani eel skin wallet, lock your keys in your beater every Thursday evening leaving work.... there's a bunch. Rick I think you're dynamite and I just might pull into Aberdeen sometime and knock on your door to tell you exactly that :)

The term "great googly-moogly" is from the a line in the song "Ball of Confusion-That's What The World Is Today", performed by the Tempations. The song was released in 1970. 4.01 minutes long.
"Great-googly-moogly, can't ya hear me talkin to ya...it's a ball of confusion"

I'm 53. And one of the best songs/groups EVER.

I would still bet that was where it came from. I thought I was the only, or at least the last, guy alive to listen to them.

In the mid 80's, Love and Rockets (formerly Bauhaus) did a GREAT version of "Ball of Confusion." Very psychedelic with a lot of fuzztone guitar, heavy base line, and hammond organ. Way cooler than the Temptations in my opinion. Almost gives me flashbacks. Makes me want to get out my skateboard and hit the halfpipe, or pull out my slolam ski and head to the river and cut and jump. Makes me want to do other things too, but I'll leave that to your imagination. :? :P

Okay guys & gals, resease has started so lets go and play and be friends again. I'm no youg Roster either and some things makes me cranky and other things I'm just numb about. The words or frazes and even old sayings used back in our haydays that was handed down by our fathers has a totaly differant meaning with too days youngsters @ 30 & below eg born in the 70's and upward.

We older people come up with with sayings like: Good Goly Moly, Son of a Biscut Eater, Cotton Picking thing, don't take any wooden nickels only keeps us from cusing in a bad way and puting it in a good way.

Later Joe
" Apply The 6 P theroy" (Previous Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance)"
" When something becomes FUBAR We Blame it on SNAFU Then Try to SWAG Our Way Out of it"
"Just my Wooden Nickels worth"
