Nice pics from Greece, Fil lives near by and he came over and checked out the new Mutt and like me he could not believe his eyes.So he tossed a few pics in for me .Fil has helped me so many times with tec and parts on 151,s that I would be lost with out him. Will only say my brother found this 151 when he was buying remote planes from a 81 year old vet .Asked my brother to help sell this jeep.My bro told him I was a big army jeep nut and 4 weeks went by and we finally we all met.My brother thought it was a 1951 M38 with 93 original miles, but when the overhead door opened the first 2 feet my 48 yr old legs went week and I had to sit for a minute.Only once have I ever seen those 1st off Ford a2 fenders in real life and here they are again.I nearly wiped out my new garage fund ,but it was worth it.Can always build a garage .Won,t find one off these again.Oh ya 128 miles and never seen rain ,I rewarded my brother big time for finding this gentleman.Other than me installing new 2HN,s 3 gas filters and cleaning out 15 yr old full tank of nasty gas and carefully blowing out lines and cleaning out carb no one has put a wrench on this .Oiled cyl.s and will start it 7 days later for the 1st in 15 years.Every thing on this Mutt was put on at the motorpool and not by civilian hands.Never painted and nubs on original tires.Curtains doors tools still in plastic. Dave :)

actually yes, they are the second most rare A2. Yours is probably the most rare if i'm seeing the pictures correctly. the fender change was sometime in 1971, the last year of Ford production. You have the later fenders like an AMG. If I see the pics correctly though you have floor drains which would be a 1971 Ford. the AMG tubs had side drains which I dont see on yours. There were probably fewer of those made than any other A2.

When it comes to A2's, there are a lot less Fords than there are AMG's. Ford made them in 1970 and 1971 at the end of their 1968 contract run. The fender change took place at some point after the army requested it which I believe was about Oct 1970. There is some question about when the change was actually implemented. I have seen mutts with delivery dates of Feb 1971 that had the straight bottom fender so I think that was probably when it happened. If so, there was about 2 1/2 months of production by Ford of the notched fender A2. Ford production ended in April 71. AMG started in 72. Even if it had happened immediately in Oct that would be only 7 months. So, I think its fair to say that AMG A2's are most numerous, Next would be straight fender Fords, and then notched fender fords would be rarest. For a long time it was thought the fender changed with AMG cause none had surfaced before. So, yes you have a very rare A2 Baios! Just make sure you really have a Ford, it should have floor drains in the front, and a budd tag on the firewall.

The hood number should end in 70 so you probably have the wrong hood number on it. Minor but work fixing. during these years the last two digits of the hood number denote the year of the vehicle for Army vehicles.
