Archived reports & documentation for the M151

[MUTT Vet]

Well I believe I may have found a little treasure trove of documentation while I was at work searching through the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC).

I found SEVERAL archived reports and other documentation regarding the M151. I have downloaded many but not all (there were several thousand listings) of the ones that were available in electronic format. Not every one is exclusively about the M151, some just mention it or have used it along with other vehicles for testing.

An easy way to find the info is to hit Ctrl + F to open the "Find" box and then type in M151 and it will take you to all the instances of M151 within the PDF document.

I had to change from Dropbox to a new file sharing site because i ran out of space.

There are other non M151 related files that are in the online folder that you can feel free to look at and download as well. Anything in this folder is for G838 use.

Number 29 has me thinking of how hard it would be to put Tracks on a MUTT.

I can't access my Dropbox account from work and it's against regulation to hook a personal storage device up to a government computer so I'll have to bring in a CD to work and copy everything to that. Then I'll take it home and upload it and PM anyone who wants some of the documents.

I would check with the higher ups first just to cover your ass. Copying anything from a government computer in any way, shape or form would make me nervous.

Using a CD is the only way we're allowed to copy personal info and documents from our work computers, so I'll be good.

thanks for posting those---i've already gone through a couple of them, and found them very informative. i'm very glad i didn't install one of the gas fired heaters designed for severe winter. one of the test results showed out of 50 vehicles, 38 broken left windshields and 30 broken right windshields. also the seat frames became too hot to touch with bare hands.

i also read the one on the wheel mounted capstan self recovery winch system. i would really like to have one of those for my A1, but i've never even seen one.

I doubt you could find one. There wasn't a lot made.

You might have to fabricate one your self.

But you might luck out with posting it in the "M151 Wanted" section of this forum.

Those were made by D**k Cepek (damn editor!) for the desert off road crowd in the late 60's. He could very well have made the ones for the government. It was not a new idea. I think most of them went on Canadian vehicles. The ones that Cepek made for the civvie market were mostly for old flat fender jeeps, CJ's and Broncos. All of which had a 5 on 5 1/5 bolt pattern.

check with the canadian parts dealers like Niagara, the Canadian army used them with mutts up there....
