Awesome. Just awesome.
Re: CMD Body Panels
Guy,
Percentage-wise, how far from having all body parts for a complete body are you? I wonder how many totally rusted out 151 are out there which have a working drive train. As an example, I am pretty sure that the guy in Italy, at the Lago di Garda, Mutt-Perini, as at least 100 full drive trains / half cuts. It's been however a few years last time I visited his storage.
Those pictures are very old and for sure not really valid anymore but it gives a good impression what the guy had some point in time. I had bought just a steering wheel from him but had the chance to visit his indoor storage, he apparently had (not sure if he still has) also an outdoor one. Unfortunately he is not a very honest person (and that is nicely put).

Re: CMD Body Panels
Dimensions are the same. Differences are some of the holes - the A1 has several holes with weld nuts for the vacuum lines for the wipers above the steering column, A2 has hood bumper holes and a few others for grab handle, heater kit option and I think fuel line is differrent.rickf wrote:Looking real good! What is the difference between the A1 and the A2 dash?

Re: CMD Body Panels
Good question. What is not done: front and rear inner fenders, gas tank, tool box and battery floors, tail light buckets (A1), A2 rear cross member. I've not looked at any of the under body parts yet. Fire wall, grill, hood and windshield frame are not going to be done. Side panels and related brackets are being worked on now.Horst wrote:Guy,

Re: CMD Body Panels
Just an idea but perhaps having a tub kit for the M416 series of trailer would be a good seller. I know it's already being done but as with many things, it appears you fellas are eclipsing the competition at every turn.
I must say I am envious of your shop (chiefly because I am one of those fellas who does his rat-killing in the driveway).
Cheers,
TJ

So sterile! Where's the grease? Where's the eau du 90wt?!!
Re: CMD Body Panels
Understand. I guess grill and hood are almost never in need of a full replacement. Fire wall is too big of a part?lpcoating wrote:

Re: CMD Body Panels
I've never had a request for the fire wall. We could make it but there would be a lot of labor to make an accurate reproduction.Horst wrote:Understand. I guess grill and hood are almost never in need of a full replacement. Fire wall is too big of a part?lpcoating wrote:

Re: CMD Body Panels
I have had a LOT of people ask about underbody repair kits. The prices on the few that are left have gone into the stratosphere. And that rear suspension crossmember is not part of any kit.

When I get the side panels done I'll work on the underbody parts.rickf wrote:I have had a LOT of people ask about underbody repair kits. The prices on the few that are left have gone into the stratosphere. And that rear suspension crossmember is not part of any kit.

Re: CMD Body Panels
I've decided not to display parts this year at the MTA show in Sussex, NJ. I plan on going to hang out. If anyone is going and needs something, I'll see if I have room. While this is a very nice show, the interest in 151 parts is minimal. I spent more time talking with some guys last year about making a firewall for a airplane compared to 151 parts!

Firewalls for airplanes? Now you are REALLY expanding into rare parts territory! Parts that also need to be FAA certified!

Re: CMD Body Panels
This should be pretty close for the full side panel. We'll run a couple and make adjustments from there.

Re: CMD Body Panels
Was just conversation. My point was that the lack of interest in the body panels at that show does not make it worth the amount of work involved with attending and doing the display. That show has always been low interest for 151 panels.rickf wrote:Firewalls for airplanes? Now you are REALLY expanding into rare parts territory! Parts that also need to be FAA certified!
