Replacement Seat Cushions

Unread post by TKledzik » May 15th, 2015, 1:08 pm

I am in the market for a complete set of canvas seat cushions and backs for my 151. Does anyone have any experience with recently purchasing re-pop cushion sets? Looking for feedback on quality, fit, price etc. Here is what I have come across so far. Any other leads appreciated.

A quick search reveals:
Original Military Jeep Parts http://www.originalmilitaryjeepparts.com/m151/M151.htm This appears to be associated with Surplus City Jeep Parts, but is advertised as "Check out our new Web Site Designed for New Old Stock, Reconditioned and Take Off Original Military Jeep Parts"
8754900 Set $97.50 (x2 front seat set)
7345140 Set $125.00 (Back seat set)
Totals $320 w/o S&H
Not clear if these are NOS seats, takeoffs, or what.

Surplus City Jeep Parts http://www.surplusjeep.com/topscush.htm This product is listed as being "faithfully reproduced to the original military standards from original government drawings."
8754900 $110 (x2 front seat set)
7345140 $140.00 (Back seat set)
Totals $360 w/o S&H
Obviously re-pop

Weebee Webbing/ODCloth/Pizzoferrato http://www.odcloth.com/m151.html After fighting your way to the products page, this is obviously the most expensive option
6pc complete seatback/cusion set $450 w/o S&H

The restoration is on final approach- gonna need these seat coming soon! Thanks for the feedback.

Fu ny I should read this now. I was just talking to Dave P at his stand here at Aberdeen. I ca tell you his work is first class and delivery is usually very quick.
This is show season so you have to remember that any of these vendors may be in the road going to shows so response times may vary.

If you are going for a 100 point restoration this might not work for you. However, I have purchased 4 of these and used on two of my jeeps as top and bottom rear seat cushions and have been very happy with them. The shade of green is a tad lighter than other canvas I have seen, but that matches what I saw while in service and it is close enough to make me happy.

Back to these seat cushions, Retiredpara I looked at yours on ebay from and the dimensions look to be a little small. How did you get them to cover your seat frame?

And another thing...my A2 is a 77 model. Were these trucks originally equipped with canvas or vinyl seat covers?

Should be vinyl for a 77 fresh off the assm. line. If it's a trk that's been in service then all bets are off, if a seat needed replaced then a GI put whatever seat cushion they got on it. Our A2 in Ft. Benninng (86-87) and Germany (87-89) had a mix of canvas, vinyl and duct tape!
