Looking for loads...

Unread post by mike_pop » March 9th, 2011, 7:53 am

I'm taking a few trips towards the end of March, early April and looking for loads. 9,000lb capacity,24' of deck space, winch, ramps, plenty of references and MV hauling experience. No load is too small! Can deviate routes. Send me an email if you need anything moved. I will be traveling empty on these trips:

NJ to Cleveland, OH

Charlotte, NC to NJ

Reno, NV to East Coast (12' of space available)

Thanks in advance!

I know Mike from Steel Soldiers and personally meeting him at Aberdeen. Do not hesitate to call him for transport. Good guy, experienced.

And helpful, Mike, thanks for helping me with my ramp on my trailer last year at Aberdeen. :D

Hey Guys-
I just bought this late eighties Ford garden tractor and need it moved from Franklin PA down to Raleigh NC. I've contacted Mike Pop and will get other quotes on Monday but thought I'd post here just in case.

Nice choice. Get hold of Cabell Garbee and see if he knows any of the SS guys going to Gilbert that could back haul from that direction for the cost of fuel. I might be headed down that way but not till November, a little past grass season. Last I heard from Mike he had to take a LEO job out in Nevada to pay the bills. Try his e-mail through the site.

I also sent an e-mail to Mike. You could always go the U-ship route although after watching that shipping wars show I would NEVER in a million years use them! You may have one or two legitimate drivers out of ten hacks just trying to scam a buck. Wrong equipment, no insurance, no experience. Nope, I would not take the chance. Word of mouth advertising works for me.

Mr. D. Got a E-mail from Mike. He said he tried to e-mail you but it bounced. He is in Las Vegas with no plans to come back east anytime soon and says he is sorry. I asked if he knows someone else he can recommend, waiting for reply.

Mr d
Just some thoughts from what I learned, pretty basic I guess besides the bonded/insurance issue but still...

Find an owner driver

Get a direct shipment door to door- the cheap quotes are usually consolidators who off load your item in a freight forwarding yard, park it in an outdoor lot, until they hook up another driver to get it closer, and this can happen 2 or 3 times. Potential for damage is high, even for a lawn mower

Make sure its a covered trailer- for weather and theft of parts enroute during stopovers.

Matt, (Mr D),
We used Motor Age Transport earlier this year to ship a M151A2 from New Hampshire to Texas (Dallas area). Brett Leonard is the owner/operator. Once arranged, he delivered in three days. He has an enclosed two level trailer, so no road damage issues. He kept us informed of delivery time the whole trip. He ships nation-wide and if you call him direct, you won't have to pay the broker fee. Cell number for Brett is 744-563-8419. My brother in Dallas, Don Fowler, made all the arrangements with Brett, in case he asks who referred you. Hope this helps,

Cal
