Items Wanted

Hello from Ken
A re-enactor friend has an old gasmask (respirator) which he displays with his gear and his M35 ?? 6x6 truck. The mask is fairly complete but it doesn't have the canister filter (a screw-on type) and he is also looking for the ballistic outserts for the mask.

Do you know who may have these for sale (dealer or private owner/collector/gasmask guru etc?). The mask is a model M40A1 from the 1990's.

If you can help, please drop me an e-mail.
Thanks.

M40A1 masks are still current issue for US Army, and others... I just got issued one last month

The pieces are available on the market. The canisters are out there in such quantity that it would silly for me to even post a link to one. NATO standard threads, mean that any spin on filter will work. The only issue for the purist re-enactor, might be language printed on it.

Have him look for M40 bits. Tons of parts on fleabay for the M40 and the filters and ballistic lens swap from both models. M17 ballistic lens might fit the M40A1 from the looks of it.
He might want to track down a M17 version if he's representing the cold war era. I spent alot of time in that mask, it sucked!
I looked in my stash but no luck.

Whiterabbit and Stagg..... thanks for the information. I passed it on to my friend but he tells me that he searched Ebay and Amazon and there is virtually nothing related to the M40/a1 masks on those boards. Are we searching in the wrong place? He also tried my old favorite, Coleman's Surplus..... nothing there either.

Any additional suggestions, guys?

Thanks as always.....
Ken

Ken,

Did you already try the bay with the top level domain .com or just .co.uk?

Hi Richard,
yes, we tried .com (for USA) plus .co.uk (for UK) as well as .de (for Germany). Maybe there's some sort of restriction?

Ken,

May be that we Europeans are a little bit restricted on the US bay site. I was looking for parts on .com offered by a known seller and did not see any item. But from the votings I could see that the seller is very active. Normally I would say imposible with no items in the shop.

BTW: Have been to Bridgnorth near Birmingham and made the deal. Found a good and cheap freight forwarder and since one week the MV has a new home - back to Germany where its last MWO has been executed. :D

Hello Richard...... it seems that Ebay is not allowing us to see certain items. Maybe the items that the seller states "shipping within US only" are excluded from searches made by anyone outside the USA. Everyone says there are LOTS of M40 parts and accessories, but we cannot see any when we search !

Ahhh... so you have bought the Goat eh? I hope it was as good as you were wanting ? Will it be easy to register with your DoT in De?

Kind regards as always....
