Dan
We were in Bradenton, on Anna Marie Island, weather was great and a good place to social distance, looks like we made it back without the virus, I was more afraid of catching it in the airport or on the flight, all of our dining was outdoors.

That is exactly where my parents used to go when they were alive. That is where all the old folks go. Just kidding, it is a really nice place from what I have seen in their pictures. They went there every year for 20 years or so.

Re: M718A1 restoration
Got the front end back in, hope those Harbor Freight jackstands hold , replacing the bushings in the rear a-arms, maybe I can have it back on it's wheels soon. My brake lines still have the cloth covers in descent shape, should I remove them?, I know they can hold moisture.
Re: M718A1 restoration
They will hold moisture if it is sitting outside in the damp air after running it in the rain and mud. Is that what you plan to do or is it going to live in the garage? and what state of restoration are you trying for? If you are just looking for practical the take it off, it does not really serve any purpose like the metal spiral wrap does. Beside rot the line that is.

Re: M718A1 restoration
It won't see any mud but a wet road on a rainy day is possible, I would like to take it to a few events. Want to sand and paint the brake lines but will have to remove the covering to do so, trying to keep it as original as possible, down to the nuts and bolts, guess I could always buy new lines at some point if the bare ones bother me. Spent 10 years and some tears collecting parts, so I'm going to rebuild it to the best of my ability, need to get Dave to make me an attendants cushion in the near future.
Re: M718A1 restoration
If the lines are still good then leave it on. Parked inside the coverings dry off just like any other cloth. If they go bad then worry about what kind of lines to get.

Re: M718A1 restoration
Made more progress today, replaced the pesky rear a-arm bushing, if you haven't replaced these it can be a fun job, best to cut through until you feel your hacksaw starts to bind up, then they will come out. Had some new bushings, I think one set must have been from China, the old bolt and socket trick wouldn't work, had to go to the press with those.
