Korea, Oh Joy.  How long before you go? I don't think we have too many members in Alabama but can always put out a call for help and see what comes about. What cross member are you needing? The one the rear suspension attaches to?

When you say it is gone entirely do you mean it is not there or it is in such bad shape it is not usable? If there is a section of it there then you can take that to a metal shop and they can bend it up for you but they need at least a short section to use for a template. And then the overall length which I would make longer and cut to fit. I don't remember if there are any fancy bends or protrusions on that piece, I can look under mine tomorrow.

Red River has just the rear sections if you need them, I bet they are inexpensive also, it would be the two bottom pieces in this photo.

While I can't say those pieces will not work I do know the military never had a rear cross member repair part. If you look at the rust repair section in the manual it specifically XX's out that rear cross member and states that if the is rust through on that part the vehicle is to be scrapped. Unless someone made the part after the order came out for the A2 maybe?

Take the wheels shocks and springs off before trying to do any kind of measuring. You can't do it under tension. I will measure mine but I am pretty sure the front mounts are probably the same distance apart from each other as the rear mounts.

Take your time and don't hack it! I had some good pictures on my A1 rebuild but the Photobucket issue took care of that information.

I never say never but that rebuild will be a challenge, looks like most of main structure is in bad shape, I have seen George and Guy do some amazing rebuilds, not trying to discourage you but you may want to find a body in a little better shape, JMHO. I remember my second rebuild was in bad shape, this was before panels were available from Guy, by the time I was through with it I decided I wouldn't do another in that condition. It didn't turn out too bad, I just use it at the deer camp, that's why I never say never. Hambone

Honestly that’s what I was thinking hambone I was thinking about selling my rear A1 suspension completely cleaned primered and painted with new bearings brake cylinders pads springs lines etc and then selling the A1 body to anyone who would want it for the panels it has left including its steering wheel shaft and box
It has a nice solid dash pretty good front end and front fender but that’s about it

I’d rather have an A2 and I have all the parts and body panels to restore an ok shape a2 to great shape but this a1 is beyond my abilities and I’m leaving to go overseas in a few months
