I think Vin Zike had access to one of the fittings but I don't know which it was. I doubt he will be able to help you for a while since his shop is probably under water right now.

If you are talking about old oil residue then carb cleaner will work good but if it is the gunk from a melted Prestolite module you are going to have to experiment. Brake cleaner or maybe Xylene. Be SURE to lubricate the shaft when you are done.

Batteries connected to starter and ran it I don't think I hooked the oil pressure up right but even I'm just the starter there was no rise in pressure. Starter seems sluggish but I have no reference for how fast it should spin

These starters are not fast at all. it will not sound anything like what you are used to with a new car. You would have to pull all the plugs and crank it for quite a while to get oil pressure reading, and that would best be done with a mechanical gauge down by the filter.

Ok thanks

Do you think I could get away with regular gauge wiring connecting to the distributor. I don't have the original pigtail

Measure the joint end of cap to end of cap very closely, that was where the difference was on the civvie ones that had a problem. It was not much, .020 maybe. But that is enough to cause a nasty vibration, especially with 4.88 gears.

You mean the flange where it bolts up? I installed and tested it and it pumps great

My current confusion is the carb seems to be pushing air out.......
