Well nothing on numbers or definant dates as i have no numbered plates and any markings have been sanded off years ago.But he helped on verifieing it as a early strait 151. So my next thing is I ordered a completel new m151 data plate. So now what number would fit for a January 61 to june 62 m151?

The absence of rivet holes on the front frame rail means it is NOT a Ford....unless of course some dabbler decided to fill and grind the holes, which really would be over-the-top. So I told Matt it is most likely a Willys or a Kaiser. Typical hood number for a Willys M151 would be 2E 5xxx .

I was thinking Ford cause in the first pic it looked like the bottom portion of the shovel handle cradle was still on the side but no top portion. Course, somebody could have added that on too. Ford was the only ones to have that originally, correct Ken?

I remember seeing pictures of a similar one earlier this year. Probably another Shriner "Clown" car.

I have never seen one with only one side of the bracket plus your bracket is way too far back for the shovel handle. I will bet that was there for a step.

Surveyor, unfortunately not the case. Willys Motors' M151 models also had the spade bracket. The top part of the bracket is missing from Matt's red mutt, probably for the reason the gas-caps with the sticky-up ears were phased out.... people injured themselves on metallic projections. :D

Also note how far back the one that is on there is. That would be one looong shovel!

Ok well not sure what is wrong with the shovel handle bracket? the top one is missing but I fit a shovel in and the handles lands right on it. This one is actually a inch shorter than my WW2 one. Any measurements of the Top bracket? Image

Yup, missing the top bracket. And the footman loops. As far as the hood number Ken gave it to you above. We ALL go to Ken when it comes to dating a vehicle and approximate hood numbers. He has more information on the M-151 than most ever will have.

Ok will work on missing items. I got three suggestions a 2C 2D from surveyor and a 2E from Ken. So thats why I ask but if Kens the guy 2E 5XXX is the way to go then.

Ken would know the best. I was just taking a shot in the dark just to see how close I'd hit to Ken's answer. Looks like my windage was off.

No not at all you were 1 letter out of 26 away, I'd say that was pretty good!

You do know the X's are to be replaced with numbers of your choice? Just checking cause the last thing I would want is to have you paint 2E5XXX on the hood!
