Nope, You do not need to back that lock nut off, Just get it to turn an 1/8 of a turn to the left and then you can fight with the hub itself. Sounds like they are really rusted. May need heat but you will need a serious torch since that is heavy metal there.

Got the front driver side off and inspected the bearings they are in great shape with pretty much fresh grease so I think they will do for now

Brake line still had fluid in it surprisingly need to flush the lines and inspect them this weekend and start installing the new brakes

If the bearings are unknown you need to check all four. One may be good but that certainly does not mean they all are. Very common failure on these. Those and axle u-joints.

I have to pull each off to replace the wheel cylinders so that’s the plan

I am going off the assumption that if the outer bearing is ok the inner one is ok though

At least for now im trying to get it moving along so it can accept the parts that are in storage as I have limited room to store parts not attached to the vehicle

Gotcha, But don't live on that assumption for too many miles. A lot of people have done that and found out the hard way that the previous owners did the same thing because the inners were much harder to get to.

Absolutely correct, Rick. Husker, roll up your sleeves and get into that inner bearing while the getting is good. Why? Because sometimes those bearings require a special puller or extra disassembly to get it off for repacking and as a result, people often opt out of servicing it properly which is exactly what Rick is trying to warn you about.

Now, before your eyes start to go crossed from thinking you'll be having to deal with that problem, there is a trick that will make servicing it a snap and you will find it at the link below, quite a ways down on my page which also details the whole process. This trick will make packing a mounted bearing simple to do without having to remove the bearing.

Freshly packed bearings are happy bearings and once you do it, likely as not you'll never have to worry or question the condition of those bearings again which has the added benefit of making your truck more valuable should you ever decide to sell it. Rather than reading the whole page, which is lengthy, just scroll down to the photo of the syringe and you be just about in the right place. After some other other discussion, reassembly goes on to page 7 of that thread. Hope you find this helpful.

I always thought it was easier to get the inners since the they weren’t stuck on the hub....

My brake lines are cleared and I have access to the rear bearings now

I seem to have lost the bushings for the brake master cyclinder on the dash 20 diagram they attached to bolt #1

Master cyclinder install went well can’t find one of the bushings that attached to bolt #1 of the diagram so I installed without it
New cylinder Primed before install pressured brake lines one of the rear line is cloughed so I’m gonna pull the rubber lines and check them and blow compressed air though the hard lines

Always replace those old rubber lines, they are cheap and they pretty much always break down inside and clog either preventing a brake from working or even worse preventing it from releasing.

I know it sounds like we are trying to spend all of your money but we have all been there and done that so when you mention these areas you are working on none of us want to see you use something that we KNOW you will be back in to replace in less than a year. If you drive this like most collectors do then you will never have to replace any of this again in your lifetime. Just grease the u-joints and go. Well, Diff and transmission seals excepted, they always seem to leak.

Main brake line is in great shape rear lines in the suspension are a little jacked up so I’ll make new stainless lines

I’ll try to get into the fronts tomorow maybe Sunday
I’ll be picking up the brake spring kits from Napa around Tuesday so I’ll go ahead with the new pads cylinder while I wait for the brake line to get here
