The beauty of this location means this license plate mount can be removed and swapped out (with one lugnut), for a standard spare tire retainer, to return the Jeep to a more military look and feel. I hope you like it Top

I am TOTALLY stealing that idea. 8) Attaching it with a military plug and one lugnut....brilliant.

If the price is right, oh yeah, I'd pay!

Several of you have expressed interest in the design of this license plate bracket so here are some additional pictures and information about the piece. Essentially the design is simple but somewhat time consuming to fabricate. As a result you really need to be able to make one for yourself, have deep pockets, or possess the ability to bribe your friend (that welds) with copious amounts of cold Coors Light.

1.) 24v Light available from Erik's Surplus (Part# 1-6015) - $9.50 w/o shipping http://www.eriksmilitarysurplus.com/index.html

2.) Spare Tire Mount/Retainer available at Saturn Surplus (Part# 5310-01-038-2188) - $8.50 w/o shipping

3.) Then you just need some metal for the fabrication, in this case it was scraps, but not a costly part of the project.

4.) Time... it took my buddy 2-3 hours to make this and given that he's a high powered executive, who makes buckets of money, this was clearly not a profitable job for him :D

Here are a couple additional pictures of the bracket:

Mr.D

Next time you gotta do something a little different. How about Navy battleship gray or Airforce strata blue  :?:

I am looking forward to it Mr D!
As an aside for the other members of this forum, if you want to deal with a straight up guy, Mr D is the man! Every nut bolt, NOS part {and only NOS parts were used through out} was logged onto a spread sheet. When he agreed to sell it to me, I am sure he went out of the way to finish it better than he would have done if he kept it for himself. If he recommended that we use a new part instead of a take out inspite of the increased cost, I followed his advice. Nothing was spared on this restoration and that combined with his exceptional attention to detail has made this ole outlaw jeep a extraordinary achievement. I am proud to be the custodian of it till my boys take it over.
Mr D is the man.

I'd bet it never looked that good when it was new.... Top, you'll be winning trophy's all over the place with that one.
I'd be ashamed to take mine out of the garage if yours was around.

Moose, you don't need to worry about that- where I live in central florida there are no other M 151s around, and no car shows that I know about. Just lots of alligators, orange trees, beef cattle and fire ants
