Re: M151A2 Restoration
Thanks Scotty it has been a big job. I think I have enough parts to build a secound jeep Some of the parts have been a real PITA to get my hands on and I'am still looking for some bits and pieces like tail light flasher buckets and the two small rear a2 fenders.
Re: M151A2 Restoration
The rear section is not to bad aside frome a few rusted out rear suspension hangers the rear section had about 2" of grease and oil that helped to keep some of the rust down .
started to try and test fit the rear cross member end cap not to sure yet as it seems the part had to be forced in place . the cap calls to have the shaded in gray area cut out for A-2's but the pic is poor in the instructions that come with the large underbody repair kit. Hope someone will chime in to help me out with this part.

Not sure but I kind of think that tab should go on top and not under that support ?
Re: M151A2 Restoration
I will wait for some advice from the more knowledgable before I go on.

M151A2 Restoration
This is why I tell anyone considering a 151 that its all about the condition of the body..... Save for the occasional shortage of rear A2 Shocks and Seat Back Cushions, there almost isn't anything that can't be had in abundance, except for body parts.RCA827 wrote:Thanks Scotty it has been a big job. Good thing sheet metal is plentiful! Sam - your project makes mine look like a walk in the park! Hang in there, I know someone who can get you fender tops.

Yes Guy body parts are the least of my worries right now thanks to you and the great work you do . I worked at the frame a few hours today and got alot of the cancer removed. Now the fun starts fabing out A frame.

Re: M151A2 Restoration
Well today I got going at the cross member of the jeep fabed the beam up and got it tac welded together and fitted in. This is how it turned out.
this weekend I will try to have it welded in and cut down to its proper width.
I built the cross member so that I can fit the under body repaire kit over the top of the beam this will give the job a finnished look when done. Today I also had the students in from the local school and had them wire brush the tub clean it took some time to get the dirt, zibar and oil cleaned off but they did well and got real dirty doing it.

Re: M151A2 Restoration
The beam is a 2x4x1/8 with a 1x2x1/8 welded to the bottom.I also backed the rear of the two beams with a steal plate 18" x 6x1/4 this is cut out to fit the rear center rails and will all be welded into the rear frame. The R\L outer spring supports also need parts fab to be spot welded to the body and support brackets made to be welded to this cross member. When this is all complete I should have the support needed to weld the front frame into the cross member.

WOW! Well done mate, the McGregors will be a proud lot now. Hey Sam do you ever sleep? All that training you're doing is for the next MUTT.
