Re: M151A2 Restoration
I would rather have had all the pictures in one posting but was not sure how to go about it still learning
Re: M151A2 Restoration
I think that would be one that I would pass on the restoration and just use the hard parts from it. You are going to have to build an entire new vehicle. That will cost you thousands more than finding a better one to start with. Just my opinion. You can get a decent runner for 5,000 that you could drive tomorrow, you will spend almost that much in welding supplies for this one.

Re: M151A2 Restoration
Now Rick and what fun would that be spending $5000.00 or more on a jeep to look at or drive around town. This is what restoring MV,s and its history is all about. The work and time put into it helps you appreciate the vehical more. This is not the first time I have done this I have other military vehicals + my having a second A2 for parts helps out. :lol:thank you for your intrest Rick

Re: M151A2 Restoration
If you are using the second one for parts I can just imagine what that one looks like.

Re: M151A2 Restoration
This is a pic of the passenger front fender after being cut out and a new half section was welded in
Now the driverside cut out and a new full NOS front fender waiting to be welded in its place.
Also the drivers full body side.
The rear full panel that I have been working on. I still need to have the bead rolls pressed in and the holes punched out. With about 6 hours to fab this part by hand and about 3 hours working on the patern this has proven to be the hardest part of the job for me so far .all in 18 ga Rick.

Re: M151A2 Restoration
In the intrest of keeping MV restorations alive and growing also at the request of our local school. I have taken some high school students in to work on this restoration 8 students in total. We will be rotating the students in groups of two . I had one class in the shop today and we spent most of the time going over the history of the m151 and how they can incorparate what they learn in school in this project . I must say the students were amazed and excited to start work. They wanted to get right to it .It was alot of fun and it felt good to see the intrest they expressed .
Re: M151A2 Restoration
I had to stop working on my A2 for a few weeks because I had other work to complete on the garage such as running underground electricity and some repairs to the roof due to bad weather we recived this past winter. Students were home from school for 2 weeks on March break, now we can get back to the jeep.
