m151a2 resto as per request...

Unread post by salmonmutt » June 21st, 2013, 12:17 pm

Here is what I had to work with to get mine to the point it's at right now. I would have done certain things differently, but I utilized what resources I had.....

That's so funny you said that about the gray primer color for Navy- I thought the same thing at the time I was doing it!! :o
definitely a little darker gray of course :D Were they very common in the Navy Department? I'm sure not as many than what the other branches had :?:

Yes the RT-524's and the R-442 work just fine along with the 6707 antenna matchers. The RT's need alignment- off frequency a tad according to my frequency counter....but function :D

I have a nice A2 , I just bought an early M151 and M151A1 that I need to replace the side rails on the body. Did you lap the new metal up on the existing body, or is it butted together?

Hi Eddie-
I butt welded the steel. I would take the piece and put it up against the existing steel and trace a line and use a 4" grinder with a .045 cutting wheel to cut it. When I cut it, I made sure to cut on the inside of the line and "grind to fit" if needed :D

Post some pics Eddie :!:
