Hope he threw the big old wasp nest in for free (on the air cleaner) regarding M113, good luck, they are very difficult to come buy and when and if you find one, make sure it has a air tight paper trail as very few of them were sold legally. Last one I saw for sale unrestored was a Canadian M113 that had hit a mine. It was a stripped hull and I think it sold for 24K back in 2001. I do know of another that just came up for sale but is no longer, it was a M106 (4.2" mortar carrier M113A2), it was at 130K. the M114 is a lot easier to find and a hell of a lot cheaper and in my opinion, much more fun (I've owned 2 over the years) and easier to work on. Both vehicles are a pain in the ass to work on either way b/c you need a nice shop with high ceilings as everything comes out the top of the vehicle (or at least the top half in case of the M113). They are a pain to move around the shop, unlike a Mutt. If they are not running, they are like a brick, can't push it around by hand with the tracks on and if the tracks are off, the only in a straight line (unless you have several of the super heavy duty car wheel dollies under the road wheels). I love tracked vehicles but I learned my lesson with them, they are fun to drive and play with, esp when they are owned by a friend of yours. ;-).. This is why I'm trying to work out a deal for a V100 from a friend of mine. Besides the M151, the V100 is my fav vehicle.

My 1967 M151A1 restoration project

Hambone the under side is in ok shape it has had some of the repair kit installed and it was done poorly in some spots. It is a lot better then what I have right now to work with. So if the price is right it will be much better to rebuild it. After I get both completely torn I will post the extra parts I will not need including what's left of the body.

Austringer I hear ya on that it's just another dream. The problem I have with the 114 is I am a tall and hefty guy and don't fit to well in them. I have sat and drove both and I fit a bit easier in the 113 over the 114 I drove. I would be a bit out there when I say if I was in a position to buy one I would wan done with the 361 gas motor over the diesel. Yes I know diesel has more power and longer range but I like the acceleration of the gas over the diesel. And I'm not a Detroit diesel fan. But all this is a pipe dream right now. I live on a poor mans budget. I just think it would be cool to have one if it was ever possible. For right now I'm focused on my mutt project and rebuilding the heads on my M35. To many toys not enough time or money. Good thing I'm a diesel mechanic by trade and can do most of all the work myself.

I will keep everyone updated on my progress. I hope to have all the steel I need by the end if the week to start building the rotisserie. If anyone has a immediate need of a part pm and I will see if I have it.

dan, I completely agree with you on the M113 vs the M113A1, If I had the choice, I'd go M113 all day long, plus the straight 113 is pure Vietnam. :-)

Don't set it out in the yard, you might not find it camo'd up! I so need to get a hoist. My hoist tree died and the rafters in the garage won't support the weight.

Ok this is a repost since my pics were blocked. I picked this body up in exchange I have to remove the power pack and one differential and return it to the owner. Question for everyone is I found the supports for the motor mounts to be rotted out on this body but the ones one my first jeep are in great shape. Should I remove them from jeep one and install them in this jeep or should I just build new ones? I hate to cut anything off jeep one. I feel bad thinking about it. What's everyone's thoughts?

LMAO I figured if any one stole it, it would be easy to tell it was mine. I had the paint left over from the duce project.
