My M151A1 restoration project
Thanks everyone I have not given up hope. It's one of those things like when you was a kid and got that toy you really wanted only to have to wait until it's all assembled before you can play with it.
Dan that looks like exactly what I need to fix the rear under carriage. Sheet metal
Work is no big issue I have a friend that has all the tools to help me form the floor panels I need to replace. Outside of that I have pretty much everything else here to make it go again. I have been looking at all the projects on here getting ideas of how I want to make this thin look. I welcome all advice I can get. This will be the biggest restoration I have done yet.
Question for everyone, I have a A2 motor and was planning on rebuilding it to put in my mutt. I read it has the hard seat valves ready to run the unleaded. But I want to Ron the A1 emissions on it because I read how the A2 emissions had running doggy issues. Any advise from anyone on this?

It is all the same as far as the motor is concerned. The emissions setup had extra's like the charcoal canister and a ton of associated extra lines on the gas tank.

Dan, here are some photos with the xtra stuff cut off, the dimensions of the section you need are as follows.
44 1/2" wide X 26 1/2" tall X 7 1/4" thick, the weight is appx 39.8 to 42.2 it wouldn't stand alone on my scale so I had to keep a finger or two on it.

I am restoring a 1961 MUTT that has required extensive sheet metal replacement, but not as bad as yours. After several threads on G503 and this site mentioned a guy in Denmark doing replacement parts, I tracked down his website. This is his contact information:

When you go to his website, click on the British flag to change to English. He makes just about every body part on the MUTT short of the main frame. He has the outboard frame member that includes the rear spring seat. I needed to replace my back panels where the taillights go and the reinforcement braces that ties the underside of the rear fenderwell to the back panels that I was replacing. He sent me his price sheet which I will send to anyone that needs it. Just e-mail me. I bought the two rear sections and the two braces. He was promtpt with his service and after eight days, they came in the mail from the Danish Post Office. The panels, braces, shipping and the bank wire transfer fee came to $500.00. I really needed them, so I paid what had to be paid. The workmanship was great and matched up against the original. Kevin.

Kevin, consider yourself lucky to have gotten hold of him. Many members here have tried and been ignored by the guy. He seemed to not want to do business in the US. That is why CMD went into the business of making 151 panels. http://www.g838.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7334 . I have heard that the Danish stuff is very high quality but also very expensive.

Well I have removed the power pack from the jeep. Its scares me every time I dig deeper how much more rot I keep finding. I am trying to get it to a point that the body wont fold on it self while I put it away for winter. I plan on during the cold months to rebuild the motor, Trans, and Differentials. after that my friend out here that builds custom cars has all the tools to help me make the new floor panels I will need. So hopefully by spring time I will begin the reassembly of this super fun project... I have always looked for challenging projects to do and I think this by far will be my biggest yet. My friends and family laugh at it, they can't see what I see.
After this is done I think I want to find a M113 to fix up or maybe a half track...lol

So up date I finally found the guy out here that has two M151's he has an A2 that's his daily driver and an A1 that he uses for parts. The A1 is the one he wants to sell and it is rough but nothing like the body I have now. I am waiting to hear back from him as to how much he might want for it. Pretty soon I am am going to have a yard full of spare mutt parts.
