I don't know of any others. Don't know of too many restoring tanks either, complete with what looks like bullet pockmarks on the nose.

Welcome aboard.

Yeah the tank is pretty shot up it came from a WWII firing range..mostly 30cal rounds not AP by the looks of things, needs some T.L.C and about 50 rolls of mig wire .The jeep is going to be a complete Restore Full floors, side panels, complete back panel all in 16Ga nice and heavy. Will update my progress!

Mike, welcome to the 838. Looks like you have a few days work left. The track is fantastic, how in the heck did it end up there? When I first saw it I thought it was an early Jap tank. Spent some time in St. Johns but most of the time I was in Gander. Nice place in the summer. I really liked it when we were running low on go juice. I was living in Fairbanks, AK at the time so I guess the weather was not that much different. Good luck on the Jeep keep us posted with the progress.

Welcome to another Canadian.

If you have the Serial Number I can pull your 151's service history from the National Defence Database.

If you tell a joke, wait half-an-hour before expecting a laugh. (Only a Canadian would know what this means.)

However, I knew about the MH light tanks on the Rock. They went out of sight after the CO of the Service Battalion (?) gave them (it) to the famous someone for restoration. I was afraid the project had floundered. Glad to see they are in good hands, and that you are practising on something small and manageable.

update Newfoundland mutt restoration

Unread post by mike-long » January 28th, 2014, 8:40 pm

Some work I got completed in the past week! My plan is to complete one full side first, thats the mid chassis, full floor, full underbody kit, rear fender top, side panel, front fender.last thing i do is the rear panel and back floor because I will sandblast the whole mutt prior to install so I can clean out the rear chanel supports before i weld in the floor.

fender and tranny hatch fixed, ready for side panel!

Unread post by mike-long » February 16th, 2014, 11:43 am

had to replace tranny mounting channel due to condition and fender end. Thank god the metal is good and I saved as much original body as I could. The rest of the body came apart with a drill and air chissel...Very time consuming! But it came apart perfect. Now its time to to put the rear fender, fender lid, side panels and underbody kit together and weld them in and finish grinding. This should take about 12Hrs and I can start the floor and start the other side.
