New M151 project

Unread post by JB » December 15th, 2013, 10:51 pm

Picked this combo up today. The M151 is uncut, with two vents, manufactured in 12/60 by Ford. I cannot wait to get started on this one. Brakes are good and tight, good batts, runs good. Some under body rust but I have a repair kit. Needs new harness but I think I can modify a NOS A2 harness to work on this one. There is an interesting stamping on the outside of the Driver Side wall. "Run #1" I don't want to get too excited, but any suggestions what it may mean?

You will be hearing from a fellow Floridian soon I am sure. Mr. Recovery on here also has a Run#1 vehicle, in much worse shape. You have a rare bird there. Modifying an A2 harness is going to be quite a project if you want it to be right and run the fuel pump in the tank off of the safety switch. I don't know what your budget is but this is a vehicle worth doing right.

I may go with a mechanical fuel pump on this one. I will see what I can find for harnesses. So the RUN #1 is what I thought it was? Thanks

Well the #1 does not mean the very first one made if that is what you are thinking but it is in the first batch of bodies that were run off the line. Once Mr. Recovery chimes in he will probably have a bit more history. I am guessing that since you know the date of manufacture that you have already talked to Ken the mutt guru? If you got that info from the BUDD tag and gave it to him it will be accurate. He may also have the history of the Run #1.

No I didn't think it was #1 off the line. I am just happy to hear that it may have come from the first batch of tubs. There is no tag above the trans tunnel but since i post on g503 also, Kevin Emdee indicated that i may be able to find a tag elsewhere. I will check further and try to find it.

You should find it in the top of the drivers side frame rail under the grill. Be careful, it is a foil tag.

I have seen the tags on both sides of the frame rails.

Left side front, almost under the radiator.

This tag is on the right hand side.
