Maybe it is just the picture but it looks like that rail is bent down where the weld went across.

Rick it is more the photo ? Hope.

So you start with a 6" x 36" x o.o6o" and do some bends. Then come cutting. And next will be alot of welding. :lol:

You are going to have a LOT of distortion when you weld up all of those cuts. It is probably going to pull in to tight and make your radius to small. A shrinking machine like those available from Eastwood would be perfect for that bend without cutting the metal.

Because its a "U" and not a "L" the shrinker will not work. No way to get it in. So I will take my time,control the heat,keep it clamped and use my TIG. Well I only us my TIG, its all I have and love it. The big reason for the cuts is to keep the nice bent edges formed with the bender. That would be hard to recreate with 3 welded pieces . The bends will also help with holding the shape when welding .

Looks fantastic! the light gray I see on the repairs is that a primer or bead blasting?
