Found this today while doing some sanding a prep for primer. Can anyone tell me what this means, unit id, base, branch? There must be some record of where this mv served. I like knowing where things like this came from. Thanks again.

That's where the REG # would be on the side of the hood along with "US Army"
Carmac and Muttguru should help with the vehicle info if they can. Carmac found the info for mine, Reg #, year, and last owning unit. Mine belonged to the National Guard Special Forces!

You might want to start your own thread concerning your jeep to prevent confusion on what truck we are talking about. :)

Well holy smokes fellas, after rearranging my garage and doing some oddball 151 painting today I came across a long, black twisted price of rubber. It was in fact the same piece of rubber all smashed around in the rear bed when I bought the mutt. After some easy cleaning it turns out to be in pretty darn great condition. My brother and I scratched our heads a few times at it he realized (90% sure) that it's the front window gasket/stripping! I'll attach a picture below of the side cut. It appears to be thick enough to fit the frame. The length is good because we laid it out and it gives room to spare around my 151a1 glass. Secondly can I assume that any local "professional" glass shop can install new glass if I bring them the window frame and this weather stripping?

Hey guys, I'm just about ready to prep the windsheild frame for a paint job. Can anyone check the above picture and tell me if this is in fact the right weather stripping? I've looked elsewhere for a side cut photo to match up but no luck. Do you have a spare to compare it to? I'm pretty sure from other topics that I can remove the glass myself fairly easily but I'd prefer to have the new glass installed by a pro. Can anyone also tell me if there are measurements for a single piece of glass to pop in there or what it will take to use a single piece of glass? The shop says they can cut almost any type of glass to fit but I want to be sure they don't overcharge me. Thanks.

It's been a few months but here are a few updated pics I took before I stuffed it in the far back of the garage before snow season up here in Maine. I worked all fall on prep/paint on everything I could see or reach with paint. I ended up using Rustoleum Camo green from the can. I sealed with a uv matte sealer. I had speculated and even lost a little sleep the first few days of planning the paint, because who wants an ugly Mutt? The final product, to me, came out awesome. I have yet to touch the wheels but the A arms and everything top to bottom front end has been either prepped or finalized with paint. I still need to patch the front left top fender, and re-do all the light and signal connectors. This may seem like a simple thing but when I replaced the rubber shifter and brake boots it made the center really pop with detail. Anyways here's a few more pics of the progress over the fall/early winter months. I am still looking for reasonably priced items like: antenna setup(scoop, whip, corner mount, extender mast) any fuel tank senders, pumps, filters, the outside of the tank is all finished. I need to find a good kit to restore the interior of the tank. Por-15 anyone? Easy? Not deadly?

Thanks again for checking my progress and any help finding parts I could use is greatly appreciated, it seems ebay doesn't have much on there these days.

Forgot to mention I'm looking for a m-series turn signal cable an of course a turn signal control. All the old connectors are jammed under the dash and it shouldn't be much to rewire the turn signal back.

Looking good MM, that's an early windshield you have there.

I notice the Delco alternator, are you running 12 volts? If so I am not sure the turn signals would work due to the controller being 24 volt. Same with all of the gauges. I know you can get by with a 24 volt coil on 12 volts since I have sen it done but the electronic ignition will not work, you need to stay with points. Lights can all be changed to 12 volts. Horn will not work.

Rick, that's actually my next step this spring when everything dries out and I can chase wires and refit connections, I am still confused and an amateur at the voltages. So as my question to you guys, this would appear to be a 12v system? Should I follow 12v protocol for everything I want to work electrically? Do my headlights need a dif setup? They did seem dim when it ran and the high beams were barely brighter. Will my guage cluster run on 12v, etc?
Oh, also a question I've had for months, is there a major or dangerous difference between a1 wheel nuts, or a2 wheel nuts? There's a spacer on my mine but on a2's I see no spacer? I'm looking for a full set of bolt/nut sets for all four wheels. I can find what looks like a2 sized bolts/nuts all over but none that look like mine. I have two sheared bolts so I figure that they must be getting a bit old all around.
