Picked up M151A2 time Debubbasize and restore
Well added a new M151 to the fleet. I picked it up yesterday. It runs, drives and stops well. It is titled in Texas as a 1970 Kaiser which I'm pretty sure it is not. I am not complaining about how its titled if Texas DMV is okay with it so am I. I will post more pics later with along with one of the Vin Plate which will make you laugh.

When I first started this thread I promised a picture of the VIN tag. At the time that I bought the A2 it was already titled and registered in Texas as a regular motor vehicle. It had TX License plates and inspection. I filled out the proper paper work to transfer the title to me. After receiving the title in my name I registered the A2 as a Former Military vehicle which cost 50 bucks for 5 years. No inspection is required and we can use the military registration number painted on the vehicle as your license plate or display a TX issued Former MV license plate on the rear of the vehicle only one required. I searched and searched for data tags and plates in all the usual places, none found. I wet sanded the hood to see if numbers would come up, none found. Thus I got a TX issued FMV plate. The A2 is titled as 1970 Kaiser which I know is not correct but hey the Great State of Texas is okay with it and every thing is legal as far as they are concerned. Look at the pictures and enjoy and get a good laugh.
Correct me if I'm wrong but this a AM General A2 right? Any guess at what year it might be?

Does it have the emissions gas tank or the non emissions? That could narrow it down to an early A2 but after that it is going to be tough. Did you check the dash on the passenger side for painted numbers? Check date on the horn and engine and see if they are the same. Not likely but if they are that may be a clue. The engines were changed out a lot but horns seldom were, if they are both the same the odds are that they both came with the vehicle. If not then I would believe the horn date before the engine date. You may be able to find a date on the wiring harness somewhere, I have only ever found it once so odds ore not good but worth a try. Sometimes a gauge will be dated but again, they were changed a lot and also they could have been in a bin for years before being used in the vehicle.

Well Rick no luck on the horn. The only number I could find on horn was on small aluminum data plate that was stamped 1482. Do I have a AMG A2?

You do appear to have an AMG A2. I see what appears to be side drains and that is an AMG thing.

Picked up a Auto Body Hammer kit from Harbor freight today. Also UPS dropped off new radiator hoses and the upper and lower radiator insulator kits. I ordered them from Rapco yesterday and showed up today, that was fast. So far I have done the following:
4 new wheel cylinders, brake pads, springs and rubber lines. Flushed brake system and now has DOT5
New throttle cable
New choke cable
Installed good used B.O. and light guard
2 new batteries
New fan belts
New composite tail lights installed
Remanufactered radiator in route should be here Friday
New battery box floor from Fil waiting install
New front floor panels from Guy waiting install
New exhaust system waiting install
NOS wiring harness waiting install
I will post pics in another post of all the rust and body work that needs done. She is running OK and stopping on a dime for now. Knock on wood.

If you are new to bodywork be sure to take the time to learn to do it right. I see so many people that immediately start hammering on a dent with the hammer on top and the dolly directly under it and all that does is stretch the metal. Then you get an oil can effect. And people always hammer too hard.

"Lil Darlin" got a refurbished radiator today. The one that was in it was leaking badly and looked really bad. Bubba had done some really bad repairs. After install I let it idle for about 30 minutes looking for leaks and other problems. All was good to go. The first thing I noticed was that the new radiator didn't heat up as quickly as the old one. I replaced the grill and drove it up and down the County Road I live on, no issues. I think it was worth the 200 bucks I paid for it plus 40 bucks shipping.
