M151A1 New to the fleet here in SoCal
currently figuring out editing pics and using PhotoBucket for posting here
Bottom pic shows the seller and me raising the rear of the truck to re-insert the spring which had fallen out years ago (when lifted by a forklift??).
Will make all pics smaller
Keep 'em rolling!
Re: M151A1 New to the fleet here in SoCal
It looks like the rear shocks are broken or the wrong ones. The rear wheels will not go that far down with the correct shocks.

The shocks look to be for an A-2 and I think they are a little longer. The A arm shouldn't drop that low when everything is hooked up properly.
this is the A-1 rear shock.
this is the A-2 rear shock.

this is the A-2 rear shock.

Re: M151A1 New to the fleet here in SoCal
Well, I am worried about overloading this site's server with big pictures (note the large and small sizes of the rear-end pics) so I was planning on editing the pics I have on my PC to the 640 x 480 size suggested by Dan here: http://www.g838.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2303rickf wrote:No editing needed in photobucket, Just click on the IMG link in photobucket and then come here to your post and click paste, no need to hit any of the blocks above. But if the owners are cool with the bigger pics, it'll save me some time.

Re: M151A1 New to the fleet here in SoCal
I got this jeep two weekends ago; will be selling my 1941 Dodge WC43 to make room.
I got the engine running two days ago. I pulled the plugs a week ago and poured about two tablespoons of motor oil into each cylinder; Friday I rotated the crank by hand about five revolutions; Saturday I connected the battery cables to my 24 volt M35A2 truck and cranked the M151 engine until I got oil dribbling out of the rocker arms. Then I replaced the plugs and started it on ether. I then connected a gas can to the carb and ran it for about three minutes with distilled water in the cooling system. It ran OK (good for an engine with no tune-up and not running for who knows how many years).
Will someone here please post pics of the battery box empty (no batteries), with batteries, and with the battery box cover in place? Also how the positive cable runs up the side of the passenger area? I need to know how these parts go together and what I am missing.
Thanks very much!

I think this is the engine ID tag... anyone have a good way to remove the overspray without damaging the tag?

THANKS! Can you tell me where the negative ground (earth) connection is made? Does end of the cable bolt onto the body or onto the engine somewhere?

The connection is in the battery box on the divider wall for the tool compartment.
