In Germany every light (and every piece of glass) is marked with an approval number and symbol. Like the DOT symbol in the US. So theoretically you need to change all of them to approved lights, in practice only changing the headlights and leave everything else does work for our old jeeps. Parking lights should be white and not yellow as we have them in the front composite light but also that is not an issue.

Benefit of switching to Hella or Bosch lights is that you get the slightly higher output of an Halogen bulb.

Hi ,
When you say “Parking lights should be white and not yellow as we have them in the front composite light but also that is not an issue”.Why do you say it's not a problem? The front composite plastic is yellow and the turn lights must be yellow. How do you get white light in the parking lights?
Thanks

The same way you get yellow turn signals in the rear in overseas countries, You have to modify things or you don't pass. As Horst said, they will let you slide on some things. I am not sure that is the case in all European countries.

Presumably you could connect the wire for the parking lights to the connection for the blackout light and leave the turn signal connected as is. Then you have yellow for the turn and white for the parkers?

It is a very good idea. Thank you Howard. Here,In Spain when We have to do the inspection ,the level of demand depends a lot on the station you take the vehicle to do the inspection. I have my A2 registered as a classic vehicle and usually they are not so demanding with the rules ... but ... it's better to be prepared

As said, headlights are converted to street legal lights. Those lights have a small white bulb for the parking lights. In the beginning, whenever I had to go to the inspection (every 2 years over here), I removed the wire of the parking light at the composite light and connected it to the parking light in the headlight bucket. But nowadays I am not even doing that 5min job anymore and just leave the yellow composite connected, no complaints so far.

In an action similar the light switch lever contacts renewing, when my blinkers don't work, I move the lever back and forth, usually that gets my blinkers working
