Unread post by daninnm » December 1st, 2016, 1:12 pm

My AM General mutt is under contract DAAE07-79-D-5016 Serial 519994 D151-02014 the orig data plate has nothing in the date space and no Insp eagle
going to install an NOS engraved data plate and give the original one a place in the storage bin.....original one is scuffed up and nasty looking but will not discard it.

anyone know how to figure out the mfg date???? approximnateion is OK

nice Mutt with drain scoops on sides of the pax and driver's compartments.

thanks

Dan....and that's how it should be ! When AMGeneral took over production in 72, the requirement to date and certify the plate was dropped by TACOM. If you check around, you won't find an original AMG plate that has these details stamped into the plate.

As yours is an ex-USMC plate from the directly delivered contract, your vehicle could be anywhere from 1980 to 1983 delivery.
Ken

ps... I'd be interested to know the body-number of your vehicle for my research :D
Kind regards....

I'd like to be able to decode the vin on the A2.
Can anyone shed some light on the following?

so if the number is 02KN-5571-xxxx
02 = ?
KN = ?
55 = is that the week of mfg
71 = year of mfg.
xxxx = sequential line number?

Thanks in advance.

so if the number is 02KN-5571-xxxx
02 = 1/4-ton truck
KN = the next letters in the numbering sequence
55 = the next numbers in the numbering sequence
71 = year of mfg. correct
xxxxx = manufacturer's serial number (5-digits, not four)

Yours is (if you don't know already) a Ford A2 from Jan 1971

Ken

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help Muttguru!
I'll have to double check but I thought I only saw 4 digits, not 5 in the sn.

Best regards,
Bob
