Rebuilding a Coil?

Unread post by Bart1015 » December 30th, 2016, 10:30 am

As many of you are aware, M151 NOS coils are hard to locate and most new "chrome" units just suck.

I was over at the G503 page and noticed a guy talking about how he rebuilt his coil. His vocabulary is not the best, but it looks like he swapped out the old internals for the internals from another unit.

I seem to recall our coils tend to short out internally. So if that is the case, opening it up will not help because we do not have a good source for good internals.

I thought at least the removal of the case may apply to us as well. The last coil I replaced had an open circuit internally. I would have tried to open it up to find and fix the break in the internal connection if I had thought it was possible.

Also, I am pretty sure our coils have some harsh chemicals in them. Be careful and wear protection.
