Questions regarding Bridge Plates

Unread post by Bucolic » March 17th, 2017, 5:53 pm

I came it own a complete Bridge Plate set and I am currently doing a repaint of it. My first question is regarding the colors. The whole set has what looks to be a gloss enamel base coat in traffic yellow. Then everything except the back of the big round plate was painted flat OD. Is/was this the correct color scheme for Bridge Plates? The number plates are also OD with black numbers.
What number(s) or letter(s) should be on the small plate that holds the number plate packs on?
And lastly; what number would be correct for a '64 M151A1 to display?

None of them. The M151-series were exempt from the need to display the weight.

So a Bridge Plate would be completely wrong on my 151, right?

Bucolic,

Right. It would be completely wrong for any 151. The 151s are not capable of carrying the tonnage indicated by the Bridge Plate numbers.

But they still look cool to the uninformed casual observer.

OK, that's what I'm thinking. I now know they don't really belong, BUT, it would look good.

That's funny, I was going to display a 6 and a 4 with an M above. 64 for a 1964 151 and the M for the series.
And as far as the 'Christmas Tree' effect, other than the license plate, there won't be anything else on the front.

Yep, bumper drags in front. Cuts down on wind resistance.
