Remote Start Switch

Unread post by greyghost » May 18th, 2017, 3:57 pm

I would like to use a remote start switch in order to start or jog the engine from under the hood.
Any ideas on current capacity required and how to attach?

Thanks for the help,

Ken

The floor starter switch completes a circuit directly from the battery to the starter. The M151s do not have a solenoid, so as I see it, you have two options. Put in a parallel circuit to the battery/starter, and either install an extra foot switch, which you can operate by hand where ever you mount it under the hood, or to that same circuit, install a 24VDC solenoid and a separate push button switch.

Here is a way that I do it. I got a 24V (DUCE N HALF STATER SWITCH) or higher rated push button switch. Install leads with alligator clips. Clip one on the starter lug and the other clip on to constant source of power with the switch off. Depending on what your going to do you will need to right gage of wire to keep from over heating the leads.
