ROPS question

Unread post by cstaup » November 8th, 2008, 11:49 am

I have a ROPS kit with the "new" parts truck.http://g838.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1058, Someone stated or jabbed, that there was a Canadian ROPS kit with the truck.

What makes it a Canooldian system? Can I modify it to minimize cutting up my A1?

I have to ask as the SGT Major (aka, wife), insists on having roll bars, or else we'll never go to Dairy Queen in the MUTT. Thanks in advance.

If the picture of the ROPS on Ebay is the ROPS that you are referring to then it is not a Canadian ROPS system, but rather it is the U.S. ROPS system. Please trust me as I have both the U.S. and the Canadian ROPS sitting in my garage.

If you did have a Canadian ROPS system you would only have to drill bolt holes through the body to fasten the ROPS in place as all 6 mounting points rest on the body panels and do not pass through the rear fender panels as with the U.S system.

I will take some pictures of my Canadian ROPS system and post them so that you can clearly see the difference between it and the U.S. system.

That looks like a standard US ROPS system in those photos to me. The Canadian system bolted to the fender tops and had brackets in the rear corners for antennas.

Oops, that was me (wasn't a ''Jab'" but, a question "Candaian ROPS, eh?") I didn't look at it close enough. I think I saw the shiny ends of horizontal bars and assumed that someone had cut-up a Canadian ROPS. My bad, as they say.

Too bad it wasn't by act of congress. Only Congress could make such a big mistake :!: :P
