hi
it looks as a carb problem this is not a carb problem but look at this also
last year wen i go to the war and piece show i had some problems
it was the same at LPG and petrol now i know it must be the ignition
it is nice to have a bi fuel
put a new coil in and drove to Antwerp Belgium
get some LPG and it was again not good driving
at Folkestone England i put a whole other distributor in is was running OK
at home i have taken the distributor apart and the two advance springs are broken
with this the timing go`s every where
for one month ago a M38A1 (dutch nekaf ) had the same both broken and will not run
i think it happens more as we think maybe one broken and the advance go to far at low revs
now i have two spare sets springs from presto lite

Re: ignition
I had similar problems with the springs in my Land Rover Series 2A distributor. The symptoms were annoying: at first everyone kept telling me I had a flat battery (we were on a CLub trip). Then on the way home it just stopped and would start but die when under load. Towed it (illegally - we have so many rules on this stuff now) to a friends place and thought we had it fixed but got a couple of km down the road and it died. Same several times ending up at another friends place about 12km from home (this all happened over several days) who did his apprenticeship on these things and thought we had it fixed, but no. Dragged it back there from a km down the road. Finally twigged and found a guy nearby (a Land Rover collector) who had a spare. Problem has gone away.
Thing is, it is not something you normally expect and the symptoms can be totally misleading AND ANNOYING!
Other thing is - have lots of friends you never know when you will need them...
